The Maharashtra State Centre, of the Institution was founded in September1921
(as Bombay Association)
just a few months after the formal inauguration of the Institution on
23rd February 1921. In 1943, the Bombay Engineering Congress was amalgamated
with the then Bombay Centre, in 1976, with the realignment
of the Institutions Centres on the basis of the State boundaries, Jurisdiction
of Bombay Centre was extended to
encompass whole of Maharashtra State and Union territory of Goa. The Centres
name was changed from
Bombay Centre to Maharashtra State Centre. Currently, Maharashtra State
has 9 Local Centres.
Viz. Ahmednagar, Aurangabad, Amravati, Belapur, Goa, Kolhapur, Nagpur,
Nashik and Pune.

The State Centre has its own building constructed on the plot of land
of approximately 2658 Sq. yards lased by the Government of Maharashtra.
The Maharashtra State Centre has always been actively associated with
the growth of Maharashtra State.
The
Centre has effectively carried out its main function of bringing together
all the concerned disciplines and
highlighting
the various options available for solving the problems which arise from
time to time.
The Centre has the expertise of most advanced technologies and had assisted
the Maharashtra State Government,
Brihan Mumbai Municipal Corporation and large and small industries in
tackling specific problems.
The Centre with a vast industrial base around can act as a catalyst
to bring into its hold of this august body, large number of degree holders,
diploma holders, technicians, craftsmen, who have shied away from their
role in society
for a long time.
With the new dimensions given to national economy and enthusiasm created
in the youth of the community, the engineers will be the forerunners
in meeting challenges of tomorrow. The Centre in the next few years
will have
to provide infrastructure and consolidate achievements of the past 78
years.
